Project Description:

The Sunrise Valley development plan proposes to create two compact, mixed-use, mixed-density neighborhoods incorporating principles of New Urbanism:

  1. Each of these two distinct neighborhoods is defined by the natural elements in the valley and the location of community parks and open space.
  2. Development within each neighborhood is guided by the concept of the Transect where each design element finds its place in a seamless continuum from rural-to-urban.
  3. Opportunities for neighborly interaction and casual encounters are encouraged wherever possible. Generous porches close to detached sidewalks are located along tree-lined streets. Village gathering places are within a five-minute walk of every home.
  4. The Green Overlook Courts, each with a small cluster of four single-family homes, will have their front porches facing into small pocket parks that provide public access and view corridors to the river for all neighborhood residents.
